Stumble This Please Rochester realtor Jeff Scofield sure can sellJeff Scofield is partner/associate of RE/MAX Plus in Brighton, which was formed by some top agents in the area about two months ago who wanted to start a partnership-owned company. According to Scofield, in the first month of business the company did over $12 million in sales. "This is a unique concept for real estate, where eight of the top 15 agents in Rochester join forces to have a more agent-oriented company," Scofield said recently. "We molded our company after the traditional law or accounting partnership firm and our intentions are to provide an atmosphere and support system so the agents can provide the best possible service for our clients."
Scofield started his career as a real estate investor and decided following the investment market depression of 1992 that he would try his hand at selling real estate. Fifteen years later he is still selling. Working 60- to 70-hour weeks is not unusual for Scofield. "While a large number of my clients work 8 to 5 jobs, Monday through Friday, I try to make myself available during the times they are off," Scofield said. "They are not always fun hours but it's the job." Scofield attended Oklahoma State University where he earned a BA in electrical engineering, and subsequently an MBA in business marketing. In 2003, 10 years after starting his career in real estate sales, he was awarded the Platinum Sales Masters Award, which is the highest award a Realtor can receive for sales production. He focuses his work in residential, investment and commercial properties. "The best part of my job is watching people's dreams come true. Knowing that I got a seller the highest price for their home or knowing that a buyer got a good deal on a home is really rewarding for me," Scofield said. When it comes to the Rochester market, Scofield said the positives and negatives are one and the same. "The positives and negatives in the area are that we don't get the large swings in value that many other cities get. This provides us with a more stable real estate market." "Last year many markets saw values drop by 20 to 30 percent. We did not," he said. Scofield said his responsibilities include making sure both buyers and sellers are happy. "Making sure buyers are protected by not over paying for a property, and making sure sellers achieve maximum exposure for the properties they are selling while achieving the highest price in a reasonable time frame are my goals," he said.
